Thanks for joining me!
I chose to create this blog to share my experiences, thoughts, and so much more on all things in the education community. I am currently a student studying Special Education and English writing. As a future educator I hope sharing my experiences and thoughts will inspire others and help them through they education journey as well. Overall, my career goal is to become a special education teacher in a private school working with children of various ages. My plan is to attend graduate school, and earn my masters degree in order to be able to work in a private school that is strictly geared towards special education and learning disabilities. I believe that education is a very important aspect especially in those that have disabilities, and I want to be able to make a difference in these children’s lives. On a day-to-day basis they may come across challenges and struggle with basic life skills and I want to be able to be able to feel confident with themselves and performing these skills. When looking back on my past education, there was one teacher that always pushed me and believed in me even when I did not believe in myself, and that one teacher made such a big difference in my life and influenced my career choice. Just as that teacher made such an impact on my life, in the future I hope to do the same with children that have special needs.
I have always known I wanted to work with children in my future. Throughout my adolescence I have been around children and worked with them in various settings. I have been a cheerleading coach for 5 years, working with children aged from three to eighteen. This experience has been a reward in itself, watching these children do what they love, reach their goals, gain life skills, and overall be successful in what they’re doing has truly been an amazing experience. This past summer I attended a Varsity All- Star cheerleading conference where I learned various skills to working with not only my athletes but future students as well. I believe that being a cheerleading coach has prepared me for working with students in the future as well as the educational courses I am currently taking at Kean. At the conference I attended various meetings and seminars explaining how to motivate my athletes, how to run effective practices, how to be “that coach”- meaning how to talk to communicate with my athletes in an proper and effective manner. Those being a few of the seminars I attended, I learned many skills that can not only be used in the gym but a classroom setting as well.
